VALENTINES DAY
VALENTINE'S DAY
The Ummah is Bleeding, can We be Celebrating???
Roses are Red, Violets are Blue …Valentines Day is definitely not
for YOU!!!
"And whoever seeks a religion[a way of life] other than Islam, it will never be
accepted of him, and in
the Hereafter he will be one of the losers" [Quran-Aal 'Imraan 3:85]
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) told us that
groups of his ummah
would follow the enemies of Allah in some of their rituals and customs. The
Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You will certainly follow the ways of
those who came before you,
span by span, cubit by cubit, until even if they were to enter a lizard's hole,
you would follow them."
We said, "O Messenger of Allah(pbuh), (do you mean) the Jews and Christians?" He
said, "Who else? !"
(Hadith-al-Bukhaari )
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever imitates a
people is one of
them." (narrated by Ahmad)
History: Who was Valentine? Why is this day observed? Valentine's Day began as a
pagan ritual started
by Romans in the 4th century BCE to celebrate "Feast of the Wolf" on February
15, also known as the
Feast of Lupercalius to honor the god Lupercus. The main attraction of this
ritual was a lottery held to
distribute young women to young men for "entertainment & pleasure"-until the
next year's lottery.
Christianity tried, without success, to stop the evil celebration of Lupercalia.
The only success it had
was in changing the name from Lupercalia to St. Valentine's Day. It was done in
CE 496 by Pope
Gelasius, in honor of some Saint Valentine. There are as many as 50 different
Valentines in Christian
legends.
How can anyone in the Ummah really enjoy this Haraam Occasion when there is so
much brutality and
suffering going on in the world today. The rivers of blood flow freely from the
veins of our brothers and
sisters from across the Muslim world. Celebrating unislamic occassions like
Valentines Day , New year,
Christmas and shouting the names of musical heroes and watching Bollywood &
Hollywood
Movies drown out the screams coming from the dungeons of Uzbekistan where
brothers and sisters are
boiled alive in vats of water. How many will take out valuable time and spend it
for the upliftment of
Islam? How many will sacrifice for our kin in Gaza , Kashmir, Afghanistan,
Chechnya, Palestine, and
Iraq? There are many more killing fields as well across the Asian and Arab
world. Will you climb on
theatre chairs and express your rage over Guantanamo Bay and other gulags where
our brothers and
sisters are being tortured, raped, sodomized, beaten, and burned? Or will you
just switch off and enjoy
with the Kuffar in celebrating this evil custom?
Oh,Muslims, wake up! The Ummah is not bleeding; it is haemorrhaging.
Anas Bin Malik (ra) said; "When the Messenger of Allah Muhammad(pbuh) came to
Medina, the people
had two holidays from the days of Jahiliyyah(ignorance). He (pbuh) said, "When I
came to you, you had
two holidays you used to celebrate in jahiliyyah. Allah has replaced them for
you with better days, the
day of Fitr and the day of slaughter (Adha)."
VALENTINES DAY IS AN UNILSAMIC CUSTOM THAT HAS NO BASIS IN ISLAM AND IS
PRESENTLY
BEING PROMOTED BY CAPITALIST FOR COMMERCIAL REASONS....Listen to the pain of
your global
family! The enemies of Allah are destroying Islam and we are following in their
footsteps!
Be pro active and DO NOT- ENGAGE, SUPPORT OR ENCOURAGE THIS EVIL....!!!

mind, then do a noble
deed by donating the money to an ISLAMIC CHARITABLE CAUSE which will make you

Illiterate or not, Fatima Mohammed Ali, Emirati, is the first 93-year-old woman
to have participated in a Holy Quran Award in the whole world.
The mother and grandmother of 120 children, Fatima started her journey with the
Holy Quran at the age of 80, and has memorized many chapters of the holy book.
“Although she is pretty old, she never misses a lesson of Quran at the mosque
early in the morning every day,” Ahmed Musa, one of Fatima’s grandsons, told
Khaleej Times.
“She is even more keen to fully memorize the holy Quran than her young kids,
seeking God’s blessings and paradise in the hereafter.”
Based in Khor Fakkan of the emirate of Sharjah, Fatima started participating in
the Sharjah Quran Award since it was open for all ages to enhance her
memorization and encourage her grandchildren to learn the holy Quran by heart.
“My grandmother does not read or write. However, listens to the cassettes and
receives help from her grandchildren, particularly 23-year-old Badr, who has
always been very close to her,” Musa said.
“Badr, who is studying law, patiently teaches her the Quran verse by verse
after she moved to his house, following a gruesome accident that claimed five
members of the family.”
Musa said his grandmother was a furious woman before memorizing Quran. “She has
become more tolerant thanks to the holy Quran. She even refuses to go outside
her house unveiled.”
Meanwhile, the second edition of the Al Hassawi Holy Quran Award, which is part
of the Establishment of Quran and Sunnah Award, Sharjah, saw the participation
of many other old women aged between 61 and 66 competing.
As many as 900 contestants participated in the two broad categories of the
competition - one for competitors below 16 years old and one for above 16.

Hadrat Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reported that the Prophet (saws) said, `Verily,
`Allah, the Exalted, becomes Angry, and His Anger is provoked when a person
does what Allah has declared as unlawful".
Related by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.
Commentary:
Allah Subhanah is our witness, if there is something which every being should
be scared of, it is the Wrath of Allah Subhanah, the Supreme and Majestic Lord
of the Worlds! The heavens and the earth and everything that exists in between
shudder and tremble at even the thought of igniting the Wrath of the Lord Most
Majestic, except the vile amongst the men and the jinn! And this unbearable
Wrath and Anger of The Lord Most High is ignited when one amongst the men (or
the jinn) intentionally approach something which the Lord Most Majestic Himself
has Declared as unlawful!

The Prophet (PBUH) said 'whoever guides to good will be rewarded equally'
and 'Pass on knowledge from me even if it is only one verse'.
Dua is the weapon of a believer.
It will protect you from the evils of enemies.
Dua is the shield of a believer.
It will increase your sustenance.
Dua is more forceful than a sword.
Dua replaces what has been destined
and also creates that what has not been destined.
Dua is a form of ibaadat.
Dua removes both the present suffering and that which will come down later.
Dua and sufferings challenge each other until the Day of Judgment,
and Dua comes out victorious.
Dua is so powerful that Dua has the power to create and alter fate!!
Ask Allah for what you need so that He will give it to you.
If you keep on knocking the door of Divine Mercy,
sooner or later it will be opened for you.
Never get tired of Dua,
Allah has attached much value to it.
Allah says
'Let My servants know that I have the power to grant My servants' wishes.'
A believer who makes Dua receives one of three things:
1. Either he will quickly have his Dua answered,
2. or he will get in the Hereafter,
3. or something bad will be prevented from him equal to the value of his Dua.
Everything has a proper discipline to it, and so does Dua.
Duas may not be answered when requirements of Dua have not been fulfilled.

Just to alert you about a few points that may affect employees, families and
lives regarding this year's 2010 Soccer World Cup in SA:
At an FNB Business Dinner last week, Gary Bailey (who has been involved in the
last two World Cups) presented some stats on World Cup expectations:
1 Schools will be closed for almost over four weeks during the World
Cup - it was apparently legislated last week. Think about what you're going do
with your kids.
2 Air tickets to Cape Town (for example) will cost about R8,000 per
seat as some flights have to leave same night after the games due to
accommodation problems in PLZ/CPT/DBN/BLOEM.
3 Flights will operate 24 hours. Expect NOISE. Expect TRAFFIC around
airports all hours.
4 Fresh veggies and fruit will be scarce, if not unavailable, during
this time. For the World Cup in Germany, they had to import them.
5 Traffic will increase by about 30% at the times of the games as fans
go to the grounds or Fan Parks (games start at 13.30, 16.00 and 2030 hrs). The
best time to fly is whilst matches are on!
6 Road areas around stadiums will be closed off;
7 It is expected that 550,000 people will be travelling to/from
matches and 100,000 per match day... Expect considerable delays on match days;
8 There will not be parking available at airports - so arrange drop
offs
9 4,800 buses will be operational and there will be restrictions on
truckers/hauliers, etc. so you need to plan with clients and especially
regarding containers needing haulage.
10 "Fan Parks" will be a huge attraction and traffic to/from those areas
will be extremely congested. At one Fan Park in Germany 500,000 people pitched
up, consuming during the events three million sausages, one million litres of
beer, etc. Think of the logistics!!!
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TRAVEL DURING THIS PERIOD
Do not travel during these periods unless it is critical to travel.
Plan your trip well in advance, changes to a ticket over this period will be
extremely difficult and very expensive.
Try to make appointments at a location that is in the opposite direction of a
stadium / fan park.
Take flights during the times when the games are being played. Games start at
13h30.
Allow for a minimum of 2 hours to get to the airport in Cape Town and possibly
3 hours for Johannesburg. The congestion on the roads both to and from the
airports is going to be chaotic. Plan for delays.
Parking at the airport will be virtually impossible and it is advisable to get
someone to drop / collect you from the airports. Transfer companies will be
busy with tourists and will also be very expensive.

WOMEN IN ISLAM]
A single pious, practicing woman is equal to 70 saints (aulia ekraam )
A single bad (evil) woman is equal to 1000 bad men .
Two rakaats namaaz of an aalimah woman are better than 80 rakaats of ordinary
women .
A breastfeeding woman gets one good for each drop of milk that is fed to the
child.
When a husband comes home full of worries and the wife extends warm welcome to
him and consoles him; she receives the reward of half jihad
A woman, who is deprived of sleep owing to her child crying at night, receives
the sawaab of freeing 20 slaves.
When a husband and a wife look at each other with love and affection, Allah
Paak himself looks at both of them with love and affection.
A woman who sends out her husband in the path of Allah and stays at home by
herself, maintaining her honour and dignity
( i.e. protecting her against temptation and dishonesty) will enter jannat 500
years before her husband while 70,000 angels and
hoors will serve her. She will be given ghusl in jannat and sitting on
mountains of pearls, she will await the arrival of her husband.....
A woman who is rendered restless owing to the illness of her baby and yet kept
on striving to comfort the baby, Allah Talaah forgives all her sins and gives
her thesawaab of 12 years accepted in ibaadat.
While milking her animal (cow, goats, ect), if a woman makes the zikr of
bismillah, that every animal makes dua to Allah Taalah on her behalf.
When a woman makes the zikr of bismillah while preparing the dough (for roti),
her livelihood is increased ( i.e .. she receives
barakat in her rozi).
When a woman makes zikar while sweeping, she receives the sawaab of sweeping
baitullah (kaba).
A chaste woman who is mindful of namaaz and roza, also makes khidmat for her
husband, for her all the 8 doors of jannat are opened. She may enter from
whichever doors she likes.
The namaaz and ibaadat of a woman disobedient to her husband do not reach
heaven.
Every night of an expectant mother (a woman who is carrying a baby in her womb)
is counted as spent in ibaadat and every
day as spent in fasting.
A woman receives the sawaab of 70 years of namaaz and roza on giving birth to
one child and the pain she suffered in every vein
of her body while giving birth, for that she will receive the sawaab of one
hajj.
If a woman dies within 40 days after giving birth, Allah Taalah gives her the
status of shahaadat ( i.e . she dies as a shaheed).
Upon the child crying at night, if the mother feeds the child (gives milk to
the child) without cursing, she receives the sawaab
of performing namaaz for one year.
When a child finishes the period of breast-feeding, an angel comes and gives
glad tidings (news) to the mother that
Allah has made jannat wajib for her
When the husband comes home to sleep and the wife gives him food to eat (not
being involved in dishonesty with regard to
herself and her husband's belongings), Allah Tallah gives her the sawaab of 12
years of ibaadat.
When the wife presses the legs of her husband without asking him, her to do so,
she gets the sawaab of giving charity 7
ounce of GOLD, and if she presses his legs after he asks her to do so, she
receives the sawaab of giving 7 ounces of SILVER in
sadaqua.
When a woman's husband dies while he was happy and pleased with her, jannat
becomes wajib for her.
A husband's teaching one masla to his wife is equal to 80 years ibaadat.
In jannat people will go to visit (see) Allah Taalah, but Allah Tallah himself
will visit (to see) the woman who has observed PARDAH while in dunyah.
Woman who wears thin garment (transparent, see-through garment) or
who arouses passion in men, or meet men they are not allowed to mix or move
about openly while heavily made up or who
live without pardah, will never enter jannat. In fact they will not even smell
the fragrance of jannat.
A woman who has undergone a great amount of suffering and difficulties in this
world will be classified with hazrat Aasia ( r.a). She was the wife of the
firaun (pharaon) who despite the fact that she was his wife, tortured and
persecuted her, to renounce
Deen and Imaan. She gave her life in the process ( i.e. she died of the
punishment inflicted to her), but did not forsake Imaan.
Every single woman going to hell will take four (4) jannati men. Because they
did not fikr nor had they cared in duniya about the
Deen and Imaan of that woman and did not teach her Deen, these four men will be:
·Her father
·Her brother
· Her husband &Her son
If woman glances at men she is not allowed to see according to the shariat,
Allah Taalah sends his curse upon her, just as it is
forbidden for a man to glance at women he is not allowed to see.
May Allah give every Muslim men & women HIDAYA to stand by Islamic
Rules and keep far away from the sin?
Please forward it to other Muslim brothers & sisters...
Jazakumullah!

THE MONTH OF SAFAR
ILL– OMENS & BAD LUCK
Nabi Sallallaahu alaihi wasallam has said: “Belief in ill-omens is shirk
(polytheistic), (he said this thrice), and the owl’s foreboding is nothing.”
The Mushrikoon (polytheists) of Arabia used to believe that a house near which
an
owl screeches will be ruined, hence Rasulullah Sallallaahu alaihi wasallam
declared
this belief as false. Another belief of the Mushrikoon was that the month of
Safar up
to the 13th day was inauspicious. Here again, Rasulullah Sallallaahu alaihi
Wasallam
rejected this belief and said:
“There is nothing ominous about the month of Safar”. (Bukhari Vol.1 pg.857)
Believing that the month of Safar is inauspicious and particularly that its
first 13 days
are ill-fated or that it is harmful to marry or propose to marry or undertake a
journey,
etc, during these days are beliefs contrary to the teachings of Islam.
It is therefore totally incorrect for Muslims, who are the followers of
Rasulullah
Sallallaahu alaihi wasallam, to adopt the ways of disbelievers and to entertain
and
harbour the very beliefs which he had come to abolish.
A true Muslim firmly believes that all conditions, whether they are adverse or
favourable, come directly from Allah Ta’aala. Specific days, months, time
periods or
phenomena have no bearing on the negative descending conditions. Furthermore, a
true Muslim believes that ill conditions are a direct result of ill actions, and
pleasant
conditions likewise are the direct result of righteous actions.
The Qur’aan is explicit on the afore-said in the following verses:
“Whosoever turns away from My remembrance, indeed for him will be a narrowed
and constrained life.” (Suratut Taaha: verse 124)
“Whosoever does righteous actions, whether male or female, whilst being a
believer, We will certainly grant him a good life”. (Suratun Nahl: Verse 97)
May Allah grant all Muslims the ability to understand and accept that all
conditions only emanate from our very own actions. It is the system of Allah
Ta’aala that good conditions are the result of good actions and bad conditions
the result of bad actions. Aameen.

THE MIDDLE PATH
Allah Ta’ala mentions in His beautiful Kitaab, The Quraan Shareef:
“And Like that We have made you a moderate nation so that you be witnesses over
mankind and the Messenger (i.e. Muhammad Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) be a
witness over you”. (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse: 143)
Furthermore, our beloved Nabi Sallallaahu Alaihi wasallam has mentioned in the
Hadeeth Shareef :
“Verily Deen is easy and whoever is extreme in Deen, he will be overpowered. So
be moderate in your actions, and gain the proximity of Allah Ta’ala through them
and give glad tidings. Use a portion of the morning, the evening and the night
for the obedience of Allah Ta’ala”. (Bukhari)
Through these two guides viz. The Quraan and the Hadith Shareef, we establish
that our Deen is a perfect code of life wherein there is no extremes. This is
further understood by the personal aamaal (actions) of Nabi Kareem Sallallaahu
alaihi Wasallam who said: “I fast also, I eat also, I get married but I fear
Allah Ta’ala….”
Therefore, as followers of our Beloved Nabi Sallallaahu Alaihi wasallam, we
should be asking ourselves, “Are my aamaal (actions) conforming with those of my
Nabi Sallallaahu Alaihi wasallam or “Am I suffering from extremism whether it be
by neglect or exaggeration?” i.e. extremism at both ends i.e. either complete
disregard of practicing Deen or the other extreme “ghuloo” going beyond the
guidelines of Shariah.
By means of his speech and action, Rasulullah Sallallaahu Alaihi wasallam
demonstrated the middle and moderate Path as a Standard to be followed in all
aspects of life like Worship, Social Behaviour and Mutual Dealings. Now, one
will stray from the Right Road if one has exceeded the limits of this Middle
Path, or neglected this Right Road by maintaining a Standard below it. Both are
incorrect and if carried out with the belief that the deed (whether exaggeration
or neglect) is the correct manner of performance, then this will be called.
’INNOVATION’ about which the Shariah warns us gravely:
e.g. Rasulullah Sallallaahu Alaihi wasallam has said, “Every innovation is an
error and every error will be in the Fire of Hell.”
Simply speaking, innovation refers to anything which has not been said or done
explicitly or implicitly by Rasulullah Sallallaahu Alaihi wasallam. Shah
Waliullah Alaihir Rahmah has written that Islam views innovation in a most
serious light as it is the means of introducing changes into the Religion.
In the Religions of the former Prophets, some people introduced a minor change
or two in the Divine Books and in the Teachings of the Prophets. Thereafter, the
following generations continued to add and make other changes so much so that
the original Religion could not be differentiated from the innovations.
Shah Waliullah Alaihir Rahmah, in his Hujjatoel Law hil Baali Gah, has explained
the reason due to which innovations creep into a Religion and the measures that
Islam has adopted to prevent this evil from spreading in the Ummah. A major
reason explained by Shah Waliullah Alaihir Rahmah is exaggeration in Deen. In
many aspects of Deen, “guloo” or exaggeration has crept in. This is especially
noticed in matters relating to the Islamic Scholars and Leaders.
Islam teaches moderation in Respecting and being Obedient to its Religious
Scholars. Yet one group of Muslims have relegated the Pious Scholars to non-
entities, saying that the Book of Allah is quite sufficient for them; if the
Pious Scholars of Islam can understand the Divine Book, they argue, then they
too can understand it, saying
They are men (humans) and we are men.
The result of this attitude is that even those who do not understand Arabic and
are ignorant of the Sayings of Rasulullah Sallallaahu Alaihi wasallam, assume
themselves to be great Scholars of the Qur’aan and Religion, merely after
reading a translation of the Qur’aan!
Then they explain the Qur’aan according to their own personal understanding
without due regard to the explanations and Commentaries provided by Rasulullah
Sallallaahu Alaihi wasallam.
If a Book by itself without a teacher was sufficient for the guidance of any
people, then Allah has the Power of revealing an entire Divine Code without the
agency of any Messenger. But Allah never revealed any Divine Book without a Nabi
or Rasool to expound on it. This rule of Guides and Teachers being essential
applies even to the Secular Sciences. Books alone, without the aid of Professors
and tutors, will not be adequate for one wishing to study Medicine to become a
doctor and similarly for an Engineer or for that matter any other profession.
Yet it is surprising that many of the so called ’Intellectuals’ find it
unnecessary to consult qualified teachers of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah (i.e.
the Ulama) in order to fully understand the Divine Book. This attitude is one
type of “guloo” which is prohibited.
Another type of “guloo” in which many ordinary laymen are also involved, is the
blind and indiscriminate selection of just anyone as their Religious leader and
thereafter following him recklessly without ascertaining whether the person who
is being accepted as one’s Religious Mentor, has proper Islamic Knowledge, and
whether he has Taqwa, etc. Furthermore, there is no check made to verify whether
the teachings of such mentors are Islamic or not, i.e. whether it is contrary to
the Qur’aan and Ahaadith or not.
Islam has stressed that mankind should save itself from both these types of
“gulouw” by adopting a moderate, Middle Course. This can easily be acquired by
studying and understanding the Qur’aan and the Sunnah, by consulting the men of
Allah, who can be recognised by means of the Book of Allah, i.e. through the
clear-cut popular teachings of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah, identifying those who
are sincerely involved in the study of the Qur’aan and the Hadith and whose
lives reflect the colour of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah. Thereafter, every
difficult Verse or concept of Deen should be understood by their explanation and
then practiced upon accordingly.

Repentence Draws Allah's Mercy
During the time of Musa Alaihis Salaam, the Bani Isra'il were afflicted with a
severe drought. Together, they begged Allah for rain but it was of no avail. The
heat became more intense and the skies remained cloudless.
Musa Alaihis Salaam then cried out to Allah, "O Allah, if my status is nothing
to you then I beseech you by the grace of Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam to
please grant us rain."
Allah sent a revelation down to him: "Your status is noble in My sight, however,
there is person amongst you who has disobeyed Me for forty years. It is because
of him that I am holding back the rains from you."
Musa Alaihis Salaam stood up and addressed the congregation, "O sinner who has
disobeyed Allah for forty years, please leave this gathering."
The sinner said to himself, "If I stand up in this gathering to leave, the
entire Bani Isra'il will realise that I am the guilty one." He lowered his head
in shame and said, "O my Allah, I beg Your forgiveness."
Immediately the rain came down in torrents.
Musa Alahis Salaam asked, " O Allah, why did You send us rain?"
Allah replied, "Due to the sinner who repented."
Musa Alaihis Salaam asked, "O Allah, reveal his identity to me."
Allah answered, "When I did not reveal his condition as a sinner, how can I now
expose him when he has sincerely repented?" (Nuzhatul Majalis)
Lesson
1. Sins are an obstacle to the acceptance of dua.
2. Allah is Sattaar. He conceals the sins of man out of His kindness.
3. Allah is Ghafoor. He forgives the sins of man when man turns in repentence.
When man repents sincerely Allah grants numerous bounties. The Quran says, "Ask
forgiveness of your Lord. Verily He is Most Forgiving. He will send rain to you
in abundance. And He will increase you in wealth and children and bestow on you
gardens and rivers." (Surah Nooh, verse 10 - 12)

Month of Safar
Month of the year: Safar is the second month of the Islamic calendar. Literal
meaning: Empty. During this month the houses used to be empty and deserted
because the ban on going to war in the month of Muharram came to an end and
everyone proceeded towards the battlefield.
Safar also means to be yellow. When the names of the months were being given it
was the season of autumn and the leaves of the trees were yellow.
Many people have erroneous beliefs regarding this month i.e. it is a month of
misfortune and calamities. The teachings of Allâh Ta'âla and His beloved Rasûl
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam gives us clear guidelines on such incorrect beliefs.
Allâh Ta'âla says in the Qur'ân: "No kind of calamity can occur, except by the
will of Allâh". (Surah 64-Ayat 11).
These erroneous beliefs have also been condemned in the context of the following
Ahâdîth:
1. There is no superstitious owl, bird, no star-promising rain, no bad omen in
the month of Safar. (Sahih Muslim).
2. There is no bad omen in the month of Safar and no Ghouls (evil spirits)
(Sahih Muslim).
3. There is no evil omen, no superstitious owl, bird and no bad omen in the
month of Safar (Bukhari).
The above Ahâdîth clearly refutes all incorrect beliefs and superstitions
regarding the month of Safar. These incorrect beliefs flow from the pre-Islamic
period of Jâhiliyyah [Days of Ignorance].
The Month of Safar During the Days of Ignorance
The Muhaddithîn have recorded many of the superstitions harboured by the Arabs
during the Days of Ignorance. A few are mentioned below:
1. The pre-Islamic Arabs believed Safar to be a snake which lives in the stomach
of a human being and when hungry, bites the person. This is the discomfort one
experiences when gripped by the pangs of hunger.
2. Some said Safar are worms which originate in the liver and ribs due to which
the colour of the person becomes yellow, a condition we know today as jaundice.
3. According to some, the month of Safar flanked by Muharram and Rablul Awwal is
full of calamities and misfortune.
With the advent of Islam and the teachings of Rasûlullah sallallahu alayhl wa
sallam, all evil and incorrect beliefs common in pre-Islamic times were
discarded.
Incorrect Beliefs:
Today too, there are some Muslims who hold incorrect beliefs regarding the month
of Safar.
1. A nikâh performed in this month would not be successful.
Sayyidina Ali radhiyallahu anhu married Sayyiditina Fatima radhiyallahu anha,
(the daughter of Rasûlullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) in the latter days of
Safar 2 A.H.
2. This month is full of misfortune and calamities.
3. To commence any important venture, business etc. during this month will bring
bad luck.
4. The first to the thirteenth of Safar is ill-fortune and evil.
5. The person who distributes food or money on the 13th of Safar wiII be saved
from its ill-fortune.
6. To celebrate the last Wednesday of Safar and regard it as a holiday.
What to do:
1. To shun all types of erroneous beliefs regarding the blessed month of Safar.
2. To understand that the most unfortunate person is he who disobeys Allâh
Ta'âla's commandments e.g. does not perform the five daily salaah etc. It is
narrated in a hadîth that Rasûlullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "Pray, 0
Allah! Cause not anyone of us to be a wretched destitute." He then asked: "Do
you know who is a wretched destitute?" Upon the request of the Sahabah
radhiyallahu anhum he replied, "A wretched destitute is he who neglects his
salât. " (Hadîth).
3. We should understand that all conditions which befalls us, good or bad,
favourable, or unfavourable are from Allâh Ta'âla, (as a result of our actions).
Allâh Ta'âla says: " Whatever misfortune befalls you, it is due to the things
your hands have wrought, and He forgives many a sin." (Surah 42 - Verse 30).
This can also be confirmed by the following Hadîth:
Sayyidina Jabir radhiyallahu anhu has said that, "I have heard Rasûlullah
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam saying, the descending of illness and evil
superstition befalling in the month of Safar is untrue."(Muslim)

As salaam alaykum family & friends
IRFSA is a small registered Non-Profit Organisation & Section 21 Company that
runs a humble shelter for Abused and/or Abandoned women with their young
children in Heideveld, Cape Town. IRFSA receives no government or corporate
funding and graciously survives on public donations, selling organically grown

community shop. IRFSA has been in existence since 2006, and to date assisted
over 470 women and young children affected by domestic violence. In 2009,
IRFSA assisted 54 women and 57 young children! Currently, there are 10 women
and 18 young children at the Shelter [ages range from 6 months to 17 years old).
Please Spring-Clean your home cupboards this Summer, as IRFSA’s community shop

shovels) and General Tools (hammers, screwdrivers, etc.)

BAHIA's Seafood at the V & A Wat
Salaamz
Sorry to be doing this, but I think you will find the following interesting.
I have just discovered that BAHIA's Seafood at the V & A Waterfront ..... is not
Halaal.
And it in not because they sell alcohol !!
The Seafood menu is limited to a very small portion of the menu.
There is nothing that scream ...... Gharaam.
However there is a dish .... Some foreign name ... "chourico king klip" .....
If you ask them what it is, they will tell you it is "It is pork with king klip"
Now that is frightening and bloody misleading.
You get a place with a Moslem name .... You will presume that it is Halaal.
Then, you look at the menu just to make sure..... you see nothing "untoward".
So, you will eat.... Right ?
The reason this is concerning to me is that - some time ago, I asked a guy from
Shah's or Mariam kitchen where is their certificate to say that they are Halaal.
They guy replied " I am a Muslim, I don't need a certificate" , which makes
sense ... as a Muslim, he won't sell or feed me something unhalaal.
Using this logic, I apply this to Bahia's Seafood. ... and the theory doesn't
work.
So now, you know.
I have received many of these type of emails before .... And they are all bogus
(ok, mainly bogus)
You can check this out for yourself and phone them at 021 421 0935
I did... I spoke to Nadia ( can you believe it !)... it cost R 159.
I asked her "what is in there"
"King Klip with Chourico", she said
"what is that", I asked
She replied "King klip on a bed of vegetables and spicy Sausage"
"What type of sausage?"
"PORK sausage" , she said.
Now you know !
And this from someone called Nadia.. so much for my initial theory (then again
that name could be misleading).

"Be sure We shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in
goods, lives, and the fruits of your toil. But give glad tidings to those who
patiently persevere. Those who say, when afflicted with calamity, 'To Allah we
belong, and to Him is our return.' They are those on whom descend blessings
from their Lord, and mercy. They are the ones who receive
guidance." (Quran-2:155-157)

Wifes's Obligations
Many prospective wives seem to have their hopes dashed after they
enter into the contract of marriage. Once the honeymoon is over,
suddenly things are not so rosy any more, and the reality of married
life seems to be a far cry from the Haraam movies which many have been
watching or the novels which end up with 'and they lived happily ever
after'. In a world where it has become fashionable to engage in
immoral activities and illicit relationships, it is becoming
increasingly difficult to convince people that marriage is an
important component of a pure society.
What guidelines does the Shariáh give the wife to help cement the
relationship between herself and her husband?
The Qurãn in Surah Shuáraa (v74), describes the prayer of the pious in
the following manner: 'Oh our lord! Grant us wives and offspring who
will be the joy and comfort of our eyes.' The explanation of the above
verse is clearly illustrated in the beautiful words of Nabi
(Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) (as narrated by ibn Abbaas) 'The best
woman (wife) is the one whom, when you look at her she pleases you,
when you command her she obeys you, when you are not in her presence
she safeguards herself and your belongings.'
Today, the wife adorns herself for weddings and other social events,
beautifying herself to attract the attention of everyone else besides
the one who is most important in her life. The husband comes home
tired from work, only to find his wife shabbily dressed, too glued to
the drama on TV to even reply to the Salaam of her husband. Meal times
and other household duties are dictated by the box. The children are
sent away to their rooms with the words 'Go to your room and read your
Qurãn - or finish up your homework.' These words, mind you, are not
uttered because of some great concern for the child's education; in
fact it is only mentioned to get them out of the way.
Remember! Your children may not do what you ask them to do, but they
very often do what they see you do. What kind of example are we
setting for these impressionable young minds?
Unrealistic demands made by the wife do not help much to strengthen
the marital bond. Being dictated by fashion and the way the people
next door are living, the wife forces the husband to beg and borrow
just to keep up with the Jones's. 'If your brother's wife can have it,
then why can't I?' 'Well your sister has it in her house.' Comparing
ourselves with those who have more than us does not help to relieve
tension between husband and wife. The words of Nabi (Sallallaahu
Álayhi Wasallam) beautifully explain:
'Look at those who have less than you, do not look at those who have
more than you, (if you do so) then you are more likely to appreciate
Allah's favours upon you.'
If a man had to choose a wife according to the guidelines given by
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam), what kind of a person was he
to look for? The Hadith states: 'A woman is married for four (things);
her wealth, her family status, her beauty and her religion. So choose
(marry) the religious woman, otherwise you will be a loser.'
The most important quality of the wife is consciousness of her Islamic
responsibilities. How Deeni conscious are you? How supportive are you
of your husband when he is engaged in Deeni activities? Are you
preventing him from serving humanity?
The Qurãn in Surah Rum (v21) explains the purpose of marriage as a
source of comfort for both partners. No one has married 'Mr Perfect'
and no one is perfect! Are you making the environment in the home
conducive to living in peace and harmony or does your husband feel
that he rather be at work than at home with you?
What degree of obedience does the Shariáh command the wife to have for
her husband? A Hadith of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam)
explains, 'If I had to command anyone to prostrate to somebody, I
would have commanded the wife to prostrate before her husband.'
However, if your husband commands you to do something against the
Shariáh you do not have to obey him.
If the objectives of both husband and wife are to please Allah, the
couple will find more common ground on which to build the
relationship.
